The Manufacturing Process Engineer supports the hammer forging production lines by developing, optimizing, and maintaining safe, efficient, and stable manufacturing processes. This role is highly hands‑on and works directly with production, maintenance, and quality teams to troubleshoot issues, improve equipment performance, reduce scrap, and maximize throughput. This position also ensures that forging processes, equipment setups, tooling usage, and operational workflows are consistent, capable, and continuously improved.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Process Engineering & Optimization
- Develop, refine, and maintain hammer forging processes to improve quality, safety, productivity, and equipment reliability.
- Analyze process performance using data, capability studies, downtime metrics, and operator feedback.
- Implement process changes that increase stability, reduce variation, and support predictable daily operations.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for process, quality, and equipment issues.
- Support implementation of Continuous Improvement methodologies such as LEAN, Six Sigma, TPM, and 5S.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs) for assigned equipment and processes.
Production & Technical Support
- Serve as the primary technical resource for hammer line operators, setup personnel, and shift leadership.
- Provide real‑time support to restore flow, minimize downtime, and ensure safe operation when issues arise.
- Participate daily on the production floor to provide troubleshooting support and identify improvement opportunities.
- Improve operator work instructions, setup sheets, and process control documentation.
- Collaborate with maintenance to address equipment reliability issues and reduce chronic downtime.
Project Execution & Documentation
- Lead engineering projects from concept through validation, including trials, data collection, and implementation.
- Evaluate equipment upgrades, new tooling concepts, and new process technologies.
- Maintain accurate documentation including process parameters, change records, drawings, and revision control.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Quality Engineering to interpret specifications, resolve deviations, and improve inspection and control methods.
- Collaborate with suppliers and service providers for tooling, equipment, and specialty process support.
- Bridge communication between Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Quality to ensure alignment and effective follow‑through.
Safety & Compliance
- Identify and resolve safety risks related to forging processes, equipment, ergonomics, and operator practices.
- Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
- Ensure all process changes comply with safety policies and regulatory requirements.
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor/manager based on business needs.
Qualifications:
Required
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate technical information clearly.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and process requirements.
- Hands‑on, production‑floor‑focused approach suited to a fast‑paced forging environment.
- Familiarity with LEAN, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma tools.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred
- Experience with hammer forging, hot working, or heavy industrial manufacturing.
- Knowledge of forging defects, process parameters, and metallurgical behavior in hot forming.
- Data analysis experience using Excel, SPC tools, or Minitab.
- Exposure to OEE improvement, TPM, or reliability engineering practices.
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in Engineering required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum 2–3 years of manufacturing or process engineering experience, preferably in forging or heavy industrial environments.
Schedule:
Monday through Thursday from 5am -3pm
